Seminar: “Peace and Reconciliation in Sri Lanka”

Background:

In the aftermath of the war in Sri Lanka, and the deep concerns and grave fears of the Tamils as to their future destiny, ETA - Vic is holding a seminar on Peace and Reconciliation in Sri Lanka, on 24th July 2010, at Monash University, Clayton Campus, Wellington Road, CLAYTON.

The aims and expected outcomes include:

  • To inform the Sri Lankan Diaspora in Australia as well the general public about the prospects and reality for achieving peace and reconciliation in Sri Lanka.
  • To provide a forum for exchanging information and ideas on mechanisms to bring about lasting peace in Sri Lanka
  • To facilitate constructive dialogue between interested parties who are currently working towards peace and reconciliation in Sri Lanka

Towards meeting the above stated aims of the seminar, we have invited four distinguished speakers who are well versed with the situation in Sri Lanka, and also have experience in facilitating peace and reconciliation in other parts of the world.

Speakers:

Prof. Damien Kingsbury
Prof. Dr. David Feith
Mr Lional Bopage
Dr. Jay Maheswaran

This will be a two and a half hour event, with speeches and adequate time for participants’ interactions and exchange of ideas.

I invite you on behalf of the ETA to this event and would greatly appreciate your support for this initiative.

Yours Sincerely,

Dr. Rajah A. Tharumarajah,

President,  ETA -Victoria.
